tweaking until it's right

3 April 2006

There’s always a bit of a breaking-in period for new designs. I’m still messing about with the little things around the site, and I think I’m almost done.

Of course, I said that when I first made the switch, so things might move around a bit more for the next little while. The latest batch of tweaks adds different aircraft for each section of the site, something I’d considered at first but didn’t have the graphics for. The journal uses an earlier-model Supermarine Spitfire, archives feature the classic Sopwith Camel (genius credit to Alex for suggesting a biplane), design has a P-51C, and the about page uses another favorite, the Hawker Sea Fury. They’re all vector graphics created from plan views in Photoshop.

Also added is easy access to the newsfeed, as well as feeds for comments (in case there’s a discussion you wanted to track). The search system and results page got cleaned up a bit as well. Suggestions are welcomed, so if you’ve got an idea of how something should work let me know.
